When I was about to go to sleep last night, I received a video message from a self-identified Korean man who called me a piece of shit and told me to fuck off for calling out anti-Blackness and for advocating for community interventions that go beyond policing.

While I'm getting many supportive messages rn(ty!), I'm also getting many problematic messages like this.

Other Asian women publicly denouncing carceral and punitive justice are being harassed, getting rape threats, and getting doxxed *by Asian men* and it's getting out of hand.

I'm seeing grown ass Asian men rallying to take down a young Asian woman, calling her a "bitch," "dumb," "cunt," "ugly hoe." Instead of putting our energy towards keeping our community safe, folks are channeling allllll that anger to replicate violence inside our community.

And I know this anger is coming from a place of deep trauma and pain, wanting to be seen, wanting to be heard.

I know this is the byproduct of white male supremacy culture that for so long has emasculated our men to feeling erased, unwanted, bullied, and disrespected.

But fam, this type of toxic masculinity and anti-Black energy isn't going to free us or give us safety.

The same toxic masculine energy that says "show them they can't fuck with us" is the same energy calling for more anti-Black policing, and the same energy sending rape threats

It's the same energy that white supremacy, patriarchy, and colonialism taught us. And it's the same energy that's hurting the most marginalized among us - our elders, undocumented Asians, poor Asians, Black & brown Asians, Muslim and Sikh Asians, disabled Asians, LGBTQ Asians

When you see Asian men perpetuating misogyny and anti-Blackness, I need other Asian men to shut it down and ask them to do better. Do it for our elders, do it for our community.

INTERVENE and go pull your folks aside. Show up for us.
