Subweeting today's thing, but widely applicable:

You are not foolish, naive, or stupid for not knowing.

You are not a patsy, a clown, or culpable for loving the work.

Your meaningful relationship with a thing does not make you responsible for the creator's bad deeds.
Calling out bad deeds is not calling out your love.

You can still derive meaning from a work while at the same time believing and supporting those harmed by its creator.

Your identity need not be damaged by the harm done by the creator of a work.

You are still you.
What you choose to do going forward may alter with this new knowledge. Honestly, I hope it does. I hope you change.

But don't be mad at the love you held for the work. The work helped make you.

The work made you strong enough to castigate evil. To defend those who need defense.
When the creator of your formative works does harm, be strong. Be brave. Be true.

Take the lessons you learned from the work and face evil. Name it. Expose it.

Be the person the work made you yearn to be.
Empires crumble. Heroes fall.

The work of caring for each other goes on.

We are strong enough to do what is needful in part because we drew strength from formative works.

That's okay. That's good.

Now use that strength. Be better than a hero.

Be a decent human being.
