Thread: Best news for #fintech payments and AP ecosystem is that all the players are now talking about #spendmanagement and not just tout their #corporatecard toolset. Another improvement is focus on subscription revenues and charging for software, not just interchange revenue.
/ Having worked @AirbaseHQ I saw first hand what core challenges the accounting dept faced and wanted spend management to solve for them. Being a better AMEX, or Corp. Card is not enough. It is actually to code, categorize and sync all the CC transactions to the GL.
/ To be strategic, Finance & Accounting must be able to make decisions and guide on how to invest in the future of the business. To see the future they have to be able to 'close the books' on time and without error.
/ None of the new card platforms actually talk about a faster time to close. It requires a deeper integration into Netsuite, Quickbooks, Xero, & Intacct - which requires time and engineering investment. Bring Card, BillPay, and Expense Mgmt into 1-platform is only the first step
/ @AirbaseHQ wins as it treats GL-Integration as a first-class object. To my friends in finance & accounting looking to evaluate 'spend management solutions' - must look beyond points/cashback/features and ask the question on how transactions make their way to the General Ledger
/ fin: The devil is in the details, and details are not covered by @TechCrunch or VCMedium posts.
