This entire premise is risible. Scotland's continued place in the Union doesn't tangibly affect the lives and identities of indians in leicester or bengali people in tower hamlets at all. it does however subject black asylum seekers in scotland to the cruelty of the home office.
Its the home office which bears square responsibility for its total abandonment of refugees in Scotland - a few months ago there was a stabbing attack at a glasgow hotel where they were being held. then you have the savagery that is dungavel. why should BAME scots put up with it?
the "progressive case for Britishness" is a busted flush. BAME people in England are forced to cling to Britishness because it's completely deracinated, while Englishness is organically rooted in blood and soil. That's not the case here! Sounds like a You problem, not an Us one.
2012 Olympics were the high point of multicultural, liberal Britishness - that country doesn't exist anymore. It voted to abolish itself and the ruling party has done everything imaginable to catalyse that process. Now they want to dig up its corpse and weekend-at-bernie us? FOH
I'll be the first one to admit that Scotland has a racism problem, and is in fact much further behind England (itself much further behind the US) in reckoning with it! But do not fucking speak for us. And don't even think about gaslighting us by making England's problems our own.
