More than 16% captured child soldiers in rehabilitation centers came forward about how they were exposed to sexual assault by Houthi officials along the fronts and other older fighters

Children from ages 6 to 16 have been the subject of these horrible crimes, the victims told stories about being raped and the rapes being videotaped, which would then be used to blackmail the children to make sure they don’t escape from the fight fronts

The Houthis crimes are well recorded and documented, a former child fighter, a 14-year-old who used the pseudonym Abdul Fatah, said he was taken by force by the militia from his home in Haja province.

He says “Houthis stormed my school and made the principal list our names to be conscripted. I ran home, but they chased me. They took me from my home as my mother was crying and begging them to leave me alone,” .

“When I arrived to the front to start digging trenches, I refused. I was hit on the head and was unconscious for a while. I woke up in a Houthi official’s shack and he started to act strangely, he called over a militia member & told him that he’s going to rape me and record it”

Abdel Fatah said that he had no choice but to remain with the Houthi rebels and do whatever his abuser asked of him.
“They said they would send the video to all my friends… and I gave in.”

“Sexual abuse is very common, maybe 50 to 60 %,” said Mohammad Mobarak, PM for school & the @KSRelief Center. “This conflict has touched too many young lives, and we just want to give them the opportunity to be a child again. They did not choose to be a part of this.”

“If I was too slow,” Khalil whispered, his face now lopsided, his mouth still swollen, “they beat me.”

Omar Abdullah, 14, also was taken from a playground outside his local Amran mosque and for two months was sexually abused, If he refused to undertake the commander’s orders, he was pummeled with the barrel of an AK-47 and starved into submission.
