I am overjoyed and privileged to have been vaccinated 🧵

The only side effect was euphoria.

But now the side effects have worn off and I realise that the only difference vaccination has made is to my own safety and that of my colleagues.

1/
It has made no difference to my patients with serious illness. They are children. They are not in the rollout plan.

2/
It makes no difference to their parents, mostly healthy and young. They are far down the vaccine rollout plan.

3/
It makes no difference to those with rare diseases who don't seem to appear on any rollout list.

4/
Vaccination is not the magical solution that rushes in at the end of a Hollywood movie and saves the day.

It changes things slowly.

5/
So we must aggressively suppress Covid now, and keep new strains out.

6/
We can't take another lockdown. The people have done as asked.

The vaccine will do its job slowly and surely.

Time for our leaders now to shine a light and lead. Show us the way out, and please communicate with us.

That is what WILL make a difference.

7/
Because right now it feels like nothing is being said, and nothing is being heard.

I am tired. And it's not a side effect of the vaccine. It's a side effect of loss, of fear, of stress, of frustration.

8/
Please give us a better plan than 'Living with Covid'. It didn't work before, it won't work this time.

No more Covid, no more surges, no more lockdowns.

Please.
