Our #YLALVirtual roundtable on fighting racism in a systemically racist legal system is starting now chaired by our very own @AneelaSamrai
We are joined by:

@fufuisonme
@ElenaPapamicha3
@RaggiKotak
@zedhas3
@iam5hina

and thanks to @OnePumpCourt for hosting us this evening and @HafsahH24 and @ciarabartlam for their help behind the scenes.
We are going to explore how, if at all, YLALs can effectively fight racism whilst working in a systemically racist legal system.
First up Ife Thompson @fufuisonme starts of citing some amazing black women 'You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world. And you have to do it all the time' - Angela Davis
Ife highlights three main themes: Educate, evaluate and respond.
The law if assumed to be neutral and this should be questioned for those concerned with racial justice @fufuisonme
We have to challenge traditional ways of doing things as they havent been built with black experience in mind. @fufuisonme referencing the work of Ian Macdonald QC.
You can follow @YLALawyers.
