NEW REPORT: CNAS — a hawkish think tank with 13 alumni in the Biden administration — has made multiple policy recommendations that would directly benefit its donors, which include major military contractors and foreign governments. https://therevolvingdoorproject.org/new-report-finds-serious-conflicts-of-interest-at-top-national-security-think-tank-sought-out-by-biden-administration/
“The scale and scope of conflicts of interest that appear in CNAS’s work and the influence that its donors may be exerting on policy highlights serious concerns about political corruption,” — @brtthnz https://therevolvingdoorproject.org/new-report-finds-serious-conflicts-of-interest-at-top-national-security-think-tank-sought-out-by-biden-administration/
A 2018 CNAS report recommended the Air Force purchase 50 to 75 B-21 bombers. CNAS did not disclose that the manufacturer, Northrop Grumman, was one of its largest donors and would stand to gain $33–$49 billion dollars in sales from this recommendation. https://therevolvingdoorproject.org/new-report-finds-serious-conflicts-of-interest-at-top-national-security-think-tank-sought-out-by-biden-administration/
In 2017, the UAE paid CNAS $250,000 to produce a private study on drone export laws amidst the UAE's intervention in Yemen. CNAS published some of those findings in a public report, urging the Trump administration to “loosen restrictions on drone exports.” https://therevolvingdoorproject.org/new-report-finds-serious-conflicts-of-interest-at-top-national-security-think-tank-sought-out-by-biden-administration/
As @brrthnz notes, an overwhelming majority of CNAS' Board of Advisors is deeply tied to its corporate donor base, with executives hailing from Bank of America, Comcast, Raytheon, McKinsey, and more: https://twitter.com/brtthnz/status/1359549237256716292
Among the CNAS alumni currently serving in the Biden Administration are Counselor to the Deputy Treasury Secretary Elizabeth Rosenberg, Deputy CIA Director David Cohen, Deputy NSA Daleep Singh, and Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines. https://twitter.com/brtthnz/status/1359549230868803588
Report co-author Erica Jung: “It is alarming that the Biden administration has welcomed so many alumni from an organization so clearly influenced by the corporate sector.” https://therevolvingdoorproject.org/new-report-finds-serious-conflicts-of-interest-at-top-national-security-think-tank-sought-out-by-biden-administration/
