For anyone who still cares about this saga, today is the last day of the premium processing period that this visa could work out. It is stuck purely because of mistake on immigration office's part. We tried to follow due process and today is the final day for them to respond https://twitter.com/suchetaghoshal/status/1354575975963529217
I have tracked the status of my application every hour for the last month. Don't know how closely you know bureaucratic violence but I'm here to tell you that it leaves you feeling all kinds of powerless. If you are a believer of due process, more power to your privilege I guess
I am okay. I am still looking at and fighting for a potential tenure track job. I'll be okay if it works out, I'll be okay even if it doesn't and I do get deported. That's not the point. I am not sharing my journey for you to worry about me.
I'm sharing bc ppl need to know what international students & faculties have to go thru to get the bare minimum. Academic hustle & productivity will still be expected from these burnt out individuals, all this fight just so we can have regular white people problems in academia
