Wow, Rep. Raskin basically says that parents and teachers showing this trial should either watch with their kids or otherwise monitor for the graphic content that they’ll be showing
Raskin compares Trump to a fire chief who can’t keep his job after sending a mob to start a fire, that’s now arguing “his free speech is being violated because he’s pro-mob or pro-fire"
This is what Rep. Neguse says will be the breakdown of the impeachment managers’ argument for convicting Trump of inciting insurrection
Rep. Neguse, correctly, going back to last spring, noting that Trump laid the groundwork for a potential loss by saying that the only way he could lose was if the election was stolen
Rep. Neguse goes on to list the ways that Trump tried to overturn the election’s results

“First he begins with the courts” which he emphasizes is “a legitimate course”

But then he went on to the states, then to the DOJ, then to GOP members of Congress, then to Pence
Rep. Neguse: When Trump’s supporters heard his speech on Jan. 6, they knew exactly what he meant, because they’d heard it before
“This was clearly not just one speech. It did not just happen. It was part of a careful, months long effort. […] He incited it. It was foreseeable” - Rep. Neguse
Neguse describes an early morning call with his dad on Jan. 7: “I told him that the proudest moment of my time in Congress was coming back to the floor, to finish the work that we started"
Next up: Joaquin Castro and Eric Swalwell to walk through Trump’s post-election lies up to the Jan. 6 rally. Castro opens with “Good afternoon, y’all” because Texas
Boy…I didn’t realize until this moment how calm it’s been to not hear Trump’s voice on a regular basis.
Also, for all the questioning at the time about whether media was mistaken in asking Trump voters “will you accept the results of the election if Trump loses,” sure does seem like documenting that belief was a good move
Swalwell up now, focusing on Trump's post-election efforts to swing the results, saying that after laying down kindling for months, “he doused the flames with kerosene."
Swalwell: Trump spent $50M from his campaign’s legal defense fund to put out ads calling for his supporters to “Stop the Steal” — ads that cut off on Jan. 5.
Swalwell makes clear that the impeachment managers don’t mean every Trump supporter in DC on Jan. 6 when they refer to the mob, and there were some who intended to protest peacefully
Rep. Madeline Dean’s walkthrough of Trump’s failures in court and threats to state officials really was stunning. I’d forgotten some of the things he’d said, like calling Brad Raffensperger an “enemy of the people”
“Donald John Trump ran out of nonviolent methods to remain in power” - @tedlieu
Reminder: if any Senate Republicans have doubts about these news reports being cited by Rep. Lieu, they can authorize witnesses to say the same thing under oath
