/: The primary #victims of this crisis are #children, as demonstrated in a recent study ( https://bit.ly/373297k ). Although we know that children hardly display clinical symptoms and only play a minor role in spreading the virus, they are the ones who are deprived. ⬇️a thread⬇️
/: Another study reports “escalating suicide rates among school children during COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown period”. Philip (2021) also claims a “9.3%–33% rise in the number of children presenting with self-harm injuries as well.” https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/0253717620982514
/: Knowing all this, raises the question of why politics and media keep on focussing on children instead of protecting them. The current discussion about the need for vaccinating all children is only the tip of the iceberg. https://twitter.com/goddeketal/status/1354511662548709376
/: An internal strategic paper of the German ministry of the interior ( @BMI_Bund) aimed to create fear and panic, claiming that children could kill their parents (i.e. “die in agony”) after being infected while playing with other children. https://www.bmi.bund.de/SharedDocs/downloads/DE/veroeffentlichungen/2020/corona/szenarienpapier-covid19.pdf?__blob=publicationFile&v=6
/: During Christmas, the media addressed children by not visiting their grandparents. Psychologist (no joke!) @ChrisStoecker propagated in @derspiegel that “Jesus would not have visited grandma”, which reminds me of the following meme.
/: Further in his article there is a statement that gives a deep insight into his and the magazine’s convictions. He emphasizes #Merkel's statement saying “If you don't celebrate Christmas with your grandparents this year, you and your grandparents will survive.” #Gaslighting
/: Also the governor of New Jersey, @GovMurphy, addressed young people in a separate tweet just before Christmas, reminding them that they are potential parents and grandparents murderers. https://twitter.com/GovMurphy/status/1338547140642140164
/: Broadcasting of one-sided reporting on almost all channels makes it difficult to have a balanced view on the current situation. There is only one topic on the whole planet since March 2020: am overstylized coronavirus.
/: The issue is that the lower people are educated the more they are prone to believing everything they are told. This can especially be seen in Brazil 🇧🇷, where it is quite common that whole families, including children, wear a mask while sitting together in a car.
/: Children over here even wear masks when playing on the streets in case parents allow them to play with their peers. For instance, the friends of my niece are not allowed to come over as their parents are afraid that their kid could get infected. As a result, she got a dog.
/: We risk destroying the psyche of an entire generation. People who are worried about “long COVID” should also include the mental and physical health of children into their risk analysis. I am convinced that measures do more harm than the virus itself.

Prove me wrong!
