Last night during a podcast I mentioned that I have trouble with the controls of Hellblade. One of the people in chat posted "He has trouble with the controls haha". Me being the shy unassuming person that I am called it out.

Once we explained my limitations he apologized and said "I didn't know". Great first step, but "not knowing is not an excuse to be rude. No one should ever be put on the spot to explain why they can't do something.
Did you know there are gamers who are 100% blind, that have no arms, that are paralyzed, and any other condition you can think of. Not all of them are as open about it as I am, many won't say anything, but it hurts. Those little jabs my drive them away.
If you ever have been, or are "that guy", stop making fun of something you know nothing about. If you have friends that do it, call them on it, as it happens, so that the target of the teasing feels safe with you. Support them.
It may be your one shot to help them not give up on online playing, which may be their only social outlet or form of interaction.
