My parents listened to all 3 hours of Rush Limbaugh every day for years. Fox News filled in the downtime. I was basically raised in an Amish-like political cult.

And look there are some fine ideals and even ideas on the Right. But that's not what this is all about. Trump proved it was never about this. It was about riling the rubes with base bigotry to get tax cuts and maintain power. That's what they got and that is what people defended.

The same people who don't want to believe their white flight suburbs are steeped in racial inequality maybe still are in denial about what their movement is. It's hard to admit.

Intellectual Conservatives earnestly participating just thought they were taking the rubes for a ride. Turns out they weren't driving and perhaps never were.
