If you’re someone who’s aspiring to be a content creator- pay attention. We’re seeing a once in a generation shift happening right now. The ones that catch onto this trend are going to be the leaders of tomorrow.

To set the scene, I first need to talk about… books.
Humans have been writing books since the beginning of time as a way to spread information. It's only recently (in the last 100 years or so) that books have become a method for everyday people to monetize their expertise.

For $10, you can get access to someone's domain expertise
And then in 2004, YouTube was born. And as such video content started to flourish. Not long after, Udemy was born. It didn't take long before people were making and selling video courses.
For $100, you can get access to someone's domain expertise in video format with supplemental PDFs + resources.
Now, just 17 years later- Zoom has made a viable solution for delivering live education to thousands of individuals across the globe.
For $1,000, you can get access to someone's domain expertise, supplemental PDFs + resources, and connect with a community of peers who are just as excited about the space.
These live online courses are essentially schools being led by regular people with domain expertise. Not college professors. Not researchers. Not academics. Domain experts.
Average cost breakdown of top live online courses

@fortelabs's Building a Second Brain - $1,500
@david_perell's Write of Passage - $4,000
@beondeck's ODF - $1,995
Keystone Accelerator - $5,000
Before if you wanted to make $1M, you would have to sell 100,000 books. Now, to make $1M you need to sell just 1,000 spots to your own online school.
No wonder people are flocking to this new format.

To me, live online courses are a new medium that is as *pivotal* to the exchange of information as books.
CCing some of my favorite minds in the space. Would love your thoughts 🙏 @will_mannon @ryangum @Bazzaruto
