The Marcos gold was moved to China after Imelda met with Mao and Chou en-Lai in 1976. This was confirmed to me by the woman in the right of the photograph. She is Elenita Soriano, personal assistant of the late Eduardo Cojuangco Jr. The gold was used by the Chinese as their
initial reserves to print renmimbi. This photo was taken while we were waiting for Boss Danding to arrive by helicopter as he was to attend the birthday of then Alaminos, Laguna Mayor Samuel Bueser. Bueser was a La Salle brother who was my Rizal Studies professor as a freshman.
He later relinquished his being a brother to marry an NPA amazon who was a former nun as seen in the picture below. Bueser was the only Mayor in Laguna who didn't defect to Lakas after Ramos won in 1992. His first line during our first class was I am anti-Marcos but pro-Danding.
Bro. Sam, as we called him at that time, always brought his Pyrennean mountain dog with him wherever he went around the campus including his classes. Tita Ellen, as I called Mrs. Soriano, was the individual mentioned in Ricardo Manapat's Some Are Smarter Than Others, as the
General Manager of Boss Danding's Los Angeles office. What Manapat failed to mention is Tita Ellen was also the one who was sending Ninoy Aquino $10,000 per month while he was in exile in Boston. Unknown to many, Danding, Dee Teodoro and Monching Mitra were barkadas. They would
get a private room in the swankiest nightclub in Dewey Blvd. to drink and womanize. Ninoy was more of a warlord than Danding in Tarlac politics because he was close to Huk Supremo Luis Taruc.
