We have a really awesome debate up @Newsweek with two really unique takes on a federal $15 minimum wage: @emeriticus argues the conservative case *for* it, while @brad_polumbo argues it will hurt the marginalized more than anyone else. Check it out here:

I learned I was wrong about something important from @emeriticus: It wasn't Trump that caused wages to rise for the bottom quarter of wage earners. It was a rise in minimum wage in 26 states. Those that didn't raise it saw wages fall for workers. Grateful for the correction!
I still think Trump gave the working class (of all races) a sense of being seen and of standing for their perceived interests, which is important and something the left is failing at. But it turns out that those calling this mostly rhetoric were probably more right than I was.
On the other hand, @brad_polumbo was able to answer a question I've had, which is why is Amazon pushing for a minimum wage increase? Brad argues persuasively that they believe it will put their mom and pop competitors out of business. It really makes you think.
Read both pieces, and then check out Taiwanna Milligen's piece about what a $15 minimum wage would mean to McDonald's workers like her: "It wouldn't make us rich, but higher wages would make sure we didn't have to worry and suffer this much." https://www.newsweek.com/i-work-mcdonalds-risking-my-life-every-day-dont-thank-me-pass-15-minimum-wage-opinion-1566544
