Yesterday, we heard from the House impeachment managers and a "response" from Trump's attorneys.

From limitless dark money to gerrymandering to election interference to refusing Obama to appoint a Supreme Court Justice, the GOP has telegraphed loud and clear that the Constitution will be replaced and that rule of law will be replaced by rule of Oligarch, like in Russia.

And also, just as in Russia, they intend to have buildings and practices that *look* like rule of law, many with the exact same name, but in reality they serve an oligarchy.

Making a mockery of impeachment is their next step after showing their willingness to stage a coup d'éta

Further to @colbymommy's argument above, if the Senate does not convict, it means that every Senate going forward will face the precedent set by the Republicans that the rule of law doesn't apply to the president. Ever. Thus, it's the end of a democratic system of laws, not men.

The GOP has no defense for Trump's incitement of insurrection. Trump's attorneys do not dispute any material fact. They do not argue that the facts lead to the legal conclusion made by the Democrats. There is no doubt that Trump committed high crimes and misdemeanors.

And yet...

And yet this motile pustule voted that it's unconstitutional to even hold a trial for a president *impeached in office.* As the Constitution says.

Here's what liberals are missing. McConnell doesn't care if you make a better argument.

McConnell is against arguments mattering.

Liberals also miss the significance of a political party filled will accomplished people not just tolerating but *actively pushing* QAnon, birtherism, anti-vaxx, anti-Evolution, and other conspiracies.

It's not that they believe these things. It's that they believe *nothing.*

Russia's PsyOps against its own people precisely mirror this social engineering: Putin's spy agencies fill the Russian information ecosystem with so much insanity, it makes truth exhausting, so you shut up and let Mobsters rule you.

This is the GOP strategy as well.

You may remember Karl Rove's quote: "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities"

The GOP has been adding up a long list of Fuck Your Logic initiatives:
-The Dems won in 2008? FYL - he's not American
-Obama gets a SCOTUS pick? FYL - there's an election ahead
-2016 GOP candidate for POTUS? FYL - here's Mobster we know to be Russia's property

At the end of the day, the GOP are really paid crisis actors for the billionaires who want freedom from democracy and all its rules.

-Me pay taxes? FYL, you pay tax, I get everything
-Me responsible to the law? FYL, the laws are to keep *you* in line

Etc.

And so 44 U.S. Senators just said FYL, there's no rule of law for us.

And, as they have been for years, they're pushing to see how far they can go before we realize they're enemies of democracy.

They're laughing at us, shocked we haven't gotten the joke yet.

Well, it's time.

Further prediction:
-The GOP will never convict Trump, though it's important that the evidence emerge that shows just how craven they are
-Criminal prosecution will be the way to rebalance this Republic. Crimes have committed. We show the consequences, through THE RULE OF LAW.

Two choices, guys:

-Rule of law democracy
-Fake institutions and Russian-style gangsterocracy

Remember which choice certain people have already made.
