Contradicting the "our hands are tied" messaging of @FCPSSupt & the school board, other Virginia school districts are taking advantage of teacher vaccine priority &
cases to relax distancing reqs. & provide 4-5 days of in-person.
There is no reason FCPS couldn't also do this.

Chesterfield County yesterday voted to allow all MS & HS students to go back to school 5 days a week starting March 9. ES students here have been back full-time since Feb. 1. Extra shielding will be used when 6 ft distancing is not possible https://www.wric.com/news/local-news/chesterfield-county/chesterfield-middle-and-high-school-students-able-to-return-in-person-in-march/
In Fauquier Cty, K-12 will get the chance to return to school 4 days a week starting April 5. They weren't able to do it while 6-ft spacing was the standard, but
vaxxs,
cases & new fed/state guidance meant they changed the standard to 3 ft with masks. https://www.fauquiernow.com/fauquier_news/article/fauquier-schools-planning-classroom-instruction-4-days-a-week-2021

Isle of Wight announced that they would bring back PreK-5 for 5 days/week starting 2/16. IOW said its mitigation strategies are working, w no cases linked to student-to-student, student-to-teacher or teacher-to-student spread since schools reopened 9/8. https://www.wavy.com/news/local-news/isle-of-wight-to-make-decision-on-returning-some-students-to-in-person-learning-5-days-a-week/
Henrico County will be 4 days a week starting 3/8 https://www.nbc12.com/2021/02/04/henrico-school-board-votes-in-person-learning-plan/ Chesapeake schools are offering ES 5 days a week w masks when <6 ft https://cpschools.com/return-to-school-plan/option1/ ; And many more Virginia schools offering 4 or 5 days a week. https://www.wsls.com/news/local/2021/02/05/here-are-the-reopening-plans-for-18-local-school-divisions/
If all of these VA schools can bring back students for 4 or 5 days a week b/c of teacher vaxxs & decreasing cases, why can't FCPS?
If these places don't treat 6 ft distancing as a hard requirement, why does FCPS?
Why won't FCPS even acknowledge that it could be doing more?
