Process!

There’s much to be said around process but l for one believe that it is subjective. We should, as creatives, at the end of the day be professional and thorough enough to provide functional creative solutions that are aesthetic and convert.

A thread.
1. Communicate any essential information via e-mail. Follow up on any social inquiries (including WhatsApp) via e-mail. Keep a professional and legitimate trail that you can always refer back to.
2. Offer prospective clients a well summarized rate card that showcases the MINIMUM ask of your current offering for standardized jobs. Re-estimate projects accordingly and communicate this in your proposal.
3. Proper discovery allows you to understand the brand and the scope of the work. It also helps you to assess whether the project is the correct fit for you. Personally, l provide an identity questionnaire and follow this up with an introductory call.
4. Speaking of proposals - refrain from embarking on any projects without airtight and robust terms of engagement. Provide contractual terms that ensure you are paid well and have optimized conditions to comfortably explore and produce meaningful work.
5. Go deep sea diving!

Extensive research is a crucial ingredient to successful design outcomes. Design research methods are also bountiful - ensure you have a visual collation of your client’s interests that they sign off on before diving into ideation.
6. It’s the presentation, for me!

Your concept is only as good as how you sell it. Present ideas in a meaningful way with proper rationale and context that helps your client visualize your design in the real world.
Lastly, l believe that we should all win together. I am always referring to the downloadable templates in my resource folder. Kindly make use of them if you’re unsure about paperwork. Developing foolproof systems helps in garnering confidence and optimizing conversion rates!
As l rightfully said in the beginning, process is subjective!

This is a partial breakdown of what l have found to be helpful in the past 6 years that l have been designing.

It is not the standard; but l hope that you can draw some value from it!
Let’s get to work!

Tighten up your process and how you engage with clients. Show that them you know exactly what you’re doing, that you’re organized and that you’re professional - and let your work also do the talking for you!

All the best! May you experience many wins!
