Gerland said in 2017 that you were best talent on campus. How did you deal with praise?
Everyone lies when he says that hes not happy about praise. However I didnt feel any pressure from this praise. I saw it as motivation to give full throttle every day in training and games.

Rhein: I can remember a game in the U16s. He was a spectator, we won 2-0 and I was thrilled with my performance. Then he came to me in the evening and asked me: 'What's going on: why no goal and no assist? How did you play? '

Then I said: 'Pretty good.' And he said: 'Oh come on, no goal and no assist. What's good about that? ' There was also the situation when I was doing regenerative training with an athletics trainer. He saw that and asked me, 'Why don't you train?'
My answer: 'Because I played yesterday.' He said, 'If I were still a coach, I would have sent you running today.' He spurred me on with things like that. He's still one of the old school coaches.
SPORT1: What is your favourite position?
Rhein: I can play anywhere in midfield, as a six, eight or ten. But I prefer to play eight because that's where I have the most freedom.

He taught me that talent and training alone are not enough to become a professional and that it is also about discipline off the field. He also made me aware of topics like nutrition and sleep. I really learned a lot under him.
Do you trust him to have a great coaching career?
Rhein: I think so. When we trained under him, we players got on really well with him. It felt like family. It makes you feel like you can win any game. No matter what the opponent is called. That makes him special as a coach.
