Once the AST heard that the position of Arsenal’s Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO) Mark Brindle was under threat from a restructuring we immediately contacted Arsenal to express our deep concern. This included dialogue with Arsenal's CEO and senior executives 1/7

The detail of conversations must remain private for what is an on-going process but we are pleased to have been told no final decision have been made. We continue to urge Arsenal to listen to their supporters before making any final decisions on this role 2/7

Mark is well known to many who he has assisted over the years, and is steeped in Arsenal knowledge having followed us home & away for decades. His important work includes helping to grow Arsenal's domestic & overseas supporters groups to more than 250 in number 3/7

Other groups including @redaction, @arsenalamerica, @ArsenalDenmark have made clear their views & the importance of this role to Arsenal’s relationship with its fans. Anyone travelling to away games, running an overseas supporters group or just needing help will endorse this 4/7

In our view it is also essential to have someone in this role who knows what it is to be an Arsenal fan, gets our culture, and has experience of the challenges that come with travelling away, especially to games in Europe, where our supporters often need support 5/7

We would also like to express our thanks to Mark for everything he has done to help not only the AST but many others & his passion for widening the fanbase across the world & increase involvement by helping groups such as @gaygooners @Arsenaldsa & @AshburtonArmy establish 6/7
