wonder if I can embed VSCode live share sessions into http://gather.town , so that my students can work on the same code together and I can walk around the classroom to see how it's going and who needs help 🤔🤔🤔
If anyone else is interested, this doesn't work at the moment. I tried out three ways to embed my editor session in http://gather.town , and each one failed: The first thing I tried was simply configuring a whiteboard object to embed the VSCode invitation link as a website. >
Embedding the editor invitation link directly failed, because it's a link that doesn't allow iframe embedding; http://gather.town  only displays websites if iframe embedding is allowed by them. So the whiteboard just showed a "refused to connect" message. >
Next, I tried a workaround where I embedded a pdf instead of the website, and the pdf only contained some text pointing to the invitation link. But I couldn't get this to open a new tab, so it always throws you out of the http://gather.town  room... >
Next, I copied the "Join the Live Share session from the browser (preview)" option from the website behind the original invitation link. Now we don't embed …http://prod.liveshare.vsengsaas.visualstudio.com/ ..., but instead http://online.visualstudio.com/ ... as a website. >
This didn't fail as visibly as the other options, but all I could see in the embedded element was a completely blank page. Maybe http://gather.town  really isn't ready for shared editor sessions yet.
