Louder for those at the back: what you, an academic who has had some amateurish thoughts about disability, 'think' and 'feel' about disabled students' ability to learn is only relevant insofar as you'll need to unlearn it as you work towards adequacy.
Nobody expects you to be trained! You have disability specialists *in your uni*! But more importantly your students are experts on their disability. They have had, unfairly for them, to become experts in what adjustments they need. At least do them the courtesy of listening.
I know 'amateurish' sounds really cruel, and I only do it to make the point that experts in one field are not experts in all. It's OK to make a mistake, or not to know! The *terrible* thing is not listening or refusing accommodation when requested.
