Did some digging. It appears that the official numbers are
Cops: ~1100 / yr
Long Guns: ~600 per year
"Long guns" means rifles + shotguns, which are split roughly 60/40 in favor of rifles, at ~360 / year.

We can reasonably assume they would roughly fall along the lines of known murder weapons (overwhelmingly handguns), so even under a harsh estimate you would only add ~200 deaths by rifle for a grand annual total of ~600 deaths by rifle. (2/4)
The AR is the most common platform in the US so we can assume it's used in many / maybe even most of these weapons, but even if we ascribe all 600 annual rifle deaths to civilian ARs, the goddamn pigs still have em beat by 500 deaths per year. (3/4)

To be clear, these arent just "deaths", they're homicides. The suicide numbers are much much more bleak, but people who try to use suicide as an excuse for GC instead of improving society and mental healthcare are ghouls and deserve nothing but scorn and disgust.
