Labor will legislate “job security” as a key objective of the Fair Work Act. #OnYourSide

Labor will extend the powers of the Fair Work Commission so it can create minimum standards for gig economy workers. #OnYourSide

Labor will restore the Fair Work Commission to the centre of our workplace relations system by abolishing the discredited and politicised Registered Organisations Commission and the Australian Building and Construction Commission. #OnYourSide

Labor will continue the work done by @DanielAndrewsMP and @AnnastaciaMP. We will work with state and territory governments, unions and industry, to develop, where it’s practical, portable entitlements for Australians in insecure work. #OnYourSide

The definition of a casual worker shouldn’t be used to take away people’s pay, entitlements or job security.

That’s why Labor will legislate to create a fair test to determine when a worker can be classified as a casual. #OnYourSide

If you work the same job, you should get the same pay. Labor will ensure that workers employed through labour hire companies receive at least the same pay as workers employed directly. #OnYourSide

Workers shouldn’t be put on an endless treadmill of fixed term contracts to avoid giving them permanent status. Labor will limit the number of consecutive fixed term contracts an employer can offer for the same role. #OnYourSide

Labor is ready to lead. We will restore the Federal Government’s status as a model employer by offering more secure public sector jobs by put an end to inappropriate temporary contracts. #OnYourSide

We will walk the talk on job security. When the Commonwealth purchases goods and services, Labor will uphold our commitments by supporting bids from companies and organisations that also provide secure jobs for their workers. #OnYourSide

Labor will fight to defend the increase in the super guarantee to 12 per cent.

It’s legislated. It’s needed. People deserve it.
