Early morning stream of consciousness/ haven't slept yet rant😫 please excuse the grammar/repetition etc. 1/12 #ClassWars #socialism
A big problem on the left is the snobbery which exists towards non-university educated activists/voters; there's a sense that only the "properly" educated should inherit the mantle of leadership/advocacy, I think much of the prejudice towards Corbyn arose from this mindset! 2/12
Until this preconceived idea of intellectual superiority, is defeated within the socialist movement, there's no hope we'll ever overturn the oligarchy. Some fault lies with those on the periphery, who too often accede to their "betters, " and devalue their own power. 3/12
Revolutions normally stem from the actions of the proletariat, but too often we allow them to be undermined by people masquerading as allies, this comes down to a lack of self belief in our own ability to govern. 4/12
The marginalised/working-classes need to become their own masters, silver-tongued, snake oil saviours, will never have the same priorities as us, because the system doesn't work against them; politics, is just another way to advance their social status. 5/12
That applies as much to the Starmer's/Biden's of this world, as it does the Trump's & Farage's. It's all a grift, none of them are genuinely interested in changing the status quo, even if the think they are; they offer the veneer of change, rather than the reality of it. 6/11
They use the language of the "working man," drape themselves in faux-patriotism, whether that be a flag or a white hood; but what they rarely do is talk to, or for the people they claim to represent. 7/11
Perhaps it stems from the patriarchal nature of our society, the idea the masses are children who need to be guided to the right path. Much of the elite, whether hereditary, political, journalistic or academic still think of those with regional accents/no qualifications 8/12
as serfs who need protection from their own worst excesses, which ultimately denies the people they claim to represent, their own agency. It's okay for them to be allies, but that means listening & supporting, not dictating what they need. Corbyn/Sanders understood this. 9/12
Top down rule has brought us to the point of extinction, threatens to take the planet & many other species with it, humanity can't continue in the same vein, unless it wants to reap the same catastrophic results. 10/12
It's time for the so-called "natural born" rulers to step aside. They can portray themselves as conservatives, progressives or democratic, but as long as they deny people a voice, not just the imaginings of focus groups, they're nothing more than feudal overlords. 11/12
The new leaders need to come from the great unwashed, they need to have experienced the pain & despair of neoliberalism, not it's benefits, if we're ever going to change the system to one that protects the planet & works for us all. Time for sleep 😂🤞🏻 #TimeForChange 12/12
