A guide to Australian political parties for foreigners:
The main centre-right party whose overall ideology I would describe as Liberal Conservatism.

Divided between a more neoliberal faction ("Wet Liberals") and a more traditional conservative faction ("Dry Liberals").

Currently, the latter are in charge of the party and country.
The main centre-left party which is overall ideologically kind of a third-way mix of social democracy and liberalism.

Is comprised of a more neoliberal faction ("Labor Right") and a more socdem faction ("Labor Left"). The latter currently leads the party.
The second-largest party on the right. They are perpetually in a coalition with the Liberals. Despite what their name implies, they are not a nationalist party.

They are basically the same as the Liberals, except more socially conservative and more focussed on rural interests.
The State of Queensland did the sensible thing and merged their Liberal and National Party into one. This is the result.
Same concept as the LNP, but in the Northern Territory.
The most left-wing mainstream party. They are basically the left faction of Labor but more woke and more environment-focussed.

They only have 1 seat in the lower house but control the balance of power in the upper house, as they benefit greatly from proportional representation.
The most right-wing mainstream party. They're basically a populist, protectionist, anti-immigration party whose leader has been an infamous figure in Australian politics for nearly 3 decades.

They have a couple of federal senate seats and a bunch of state legislature seats.
Only really active in the state of South Australia. Began as a single issue anti-gambling party but has tried to diversify into a broad centrist party with mixed degrees of success.

Controls a seat in the lower house, and another in the upper house.
