I always found the idea of Levi dying without fulfilling his promise of killing Zeke very amazing. I mean, the character who has been repeating "I have no regrets" ending up failing his main objective was something I considered beautifully tragic, but what happened to Levi past +
Chapter was even worse, and I don't mean that in a bad way, not a little bit!
In my opinion, the way everything was arranged (A&Z discussion, Z realizing a new meaning for life and sacrificing himself instead of fighting as an enemy against the alliance) was what made Levi's revenge something far from satisfying or triumphant. In fact, it was heartbroken
Thinking abt the panel of Levi killing Zeke and seeing his expression I couldn't help myself, but to remember Thorfinn's expressions. And eventhough their circumstances are VERY different, I think there's *one* thing that can be linked between them.
!VS spoilers!
While Thorfinn failed in revenging his father's death when Askeladd, his enemy, got killed by a third person right in front of his eyes, Levi successfully fulfilled the promise he made to Erwin;but in both cases the *one* thing that seems similar to me is: emptiness
Thorfinn, in the manga, says that hate was what moved him and without it he's empty, I can see this concept being applied in Levi as well, but in a different way. I don't think Levi's hate was what made him keep moving, it was the urge for finished Erwin's last command
Ofc, Levi wanted the rumbling to be stopped just like any other alliance's characters, but we could clearly see through the chs that killing Zeke was always his main goal.

We kept seeing how Levi struggled to even kept alive, just so to finished his duty as a soldier.
After seeing how much pain Levi was put into just to get the chance to fulfill his promise, what we got wasn't an epic fight with the beast titan, Levi killed Zeke (a man who had already accepted his death) without hesitation, like an automatic action. It was anticlimactic & sad
And yet, I think it finishes Levi's arc in such an interesting and even more tragic way.

In fact, Levi doesn't have a single regret anymore, but what does he have now? What will make him keeping moving on?

What's left aside from emptiness?
All of those thoughts make me remember of this conversation Levi and Erwin had back in ch 70.

It almost feels like it's now time for Levi to answer this question.
Well, I'm not sure of how isa will portray Levi's reaction to killing Zeke so easily, maybe fulfilling his promise will be enough for him in the end of the day. Maybe he'll die lol
Those were just a bunch of thoughts I had after thinking abt the last ch, tbh
