Pastrami sammies usually aren't that cheap, but Pasadena doesn't fuck around when it comes to sandwiches.
The Hat and Lucky Boy both sell great pastramis for almost $10 and both places feel like they haven't been renovated since 1982.
GIAMELA'S! All the cold sandwiches at the Atwater location are $10-11. I <3 the Turkey w/ Pesto Mayo. Squeeze that pepperoncini juice all over it
The Burbank location has a more limited menu and is $1 cheaper. The pastrami is daaaamn good.
Vince's Market in Atwater, $3-5 sandos!
Small little corner store with great soft rolls. Simple and good as hell. Thanks @alexmce!
Kien Giang Bakery in Echo Park specializes in cakes, but their $7 Banh Mi is fantastic. On a shrinking list of affordable places in eat in the area.
Eagle Rock Italian Bakery & Deli is yet another great grocery spot slinging sammies. Definitely an unsung hero in NELA. I get the Italian combo, can't find the price online, but their others are all sub $9. Their baked goods are great too!
Handy Market in Burbank is a new favorite of mine. Just a solid ass selection of American classics. Their $9 tri-tip is only available on Saturdays. Their butchershop is also a nice neighborhood fav.
A couple blocks west on Magnolia is Pinocchio's with classic red sauce fare like meatball subs for $9 and the Monte Carlo Combo for $8, get that garlic bread and come back for the gelato.
Holdaak in Highland Park does Korean style fried chicken sandwiches that are so damn good. The spicy is $7.50. I'm honestly partial to their fried chicken salad, but that's because they put ranch on it and I'm too white to resist.
Lee's Sandwiches is the type of chain I'd love to see all over the city of LA. Their #1 combination sandwich is $3.99 is daaaaamn good. They have locations all over Orange County, but also 3 in the SGV and another in Lake Balboa
My Dung in Chinatown is a great little hole-in-the-wall general store selling Banh Mis for for $3.50
Lanza Brothers is the kinda place you'd love to have down the street from your house of where you work. Classic subs from a convenience store from $5 to $7

Located between Lincoln Park and Chinatown, right by the San Antonio Winery you can see off the freeway.
Huge Tree Pastry's baked sesame bread with beef IS a sandwich, despite not being called one on their menu ($4, Monterey Park).
I LOVE Taiwanese breakfast and really the stars on this menu is the beef roll, salty fan tuan, and their homemade soy milk.
Delicias Bakery in Highland Park is clutch! They've got a great VEGAN milanesa torta and the pan dulces you want. I really like the pre-made grab and go and sandwiches. Those were really helpful to me while editing from home in HLP.
Santoro's in Burbank has very solid $9-10 subs. Honestly, I only bring this one up because Jamie Kennedy did some pranks in blackface here for the Jamie Kennedy Experiment. No I won't link to it, but oh boy are they weird!
