Hey leaders of things? (Church, nonprofits, etc). I know the urge to get back into the swing of "program year" is huge. But I'm starting to get emails from my diocese, seminary, others with schedules of in person stuff. And I don't think it is the right response right now...
Though maybe not for the reason you think. I'm not saying that learning opportunities, conferences, etc aren't important. BUT let's say everyone in the US is vaccinated by end of June and it is safe to DO STUFF again. By then it will be 18 months...
since most folks have seen family and friends. 18 months since my elderly parishioners have held their grandkids (or even seen the new ones in person EVER). Since we've hugged our friends, our Moms, our grown kids. People are exhausted and lonely y'all. And...
We (the Church especially) really need to declare a halt to normal. When it is safe to do so I want EVERY ONE of my lay leaders to take ALL their work vacation time and go see every beloved person in their life in person. I do NOT want them to spend even ONE DAY of that at a conf
So, can we please just cancel all that stuff through the end of 2021 and hope really hard that instead of getting things done, and going back to normal maybe we can make it so everyone gets to take time off (with pay) and see people they love? Like all of us?
