a thread on decans in astrology

just a little side note, this is my VERY first thread ever on astrology & i do appreciate any feedback.

(1/11): I do want to start off with the very basics of astrology. We all know that there are 12 zodiac signs: starting with Aries and ending with Pisces. Each sign is broken down with into three groups and each group consist of 10 degrees. This is called a decan.
(2/11): To understand decans, you first need to understand triplicity. What is triplicity? Triplicity is the division of the 12 signs into 4 groups of different elements: fire, earth, air, and water. Each group has 3 signs:
(3/11):
signs: Gemini, Libra, & Aquarius
signs: Aries, Leo, & Sagittarius
signs: Cancer, Scorpio, & Pisces
signs: Taurus, Virgo, & Capricorn.

(4/11): To tell what your decan is, you look your birth chart for the degree next to the placement. Decans are used to express what type of qualities the sign has. Yes, you may be a Virgo sun but what TYPE of Virgo sun are you?
(5/11): Decans will ALWAYS go in order of the zodiac signs. for example:
Lets say you are an Aries sun & you look at the degree that your sun is in. Your degree may be at 15 degrees, that’d make you an Aries-Leo. Or maybe your sun is at 28 degrees, you’d be an Aries-Sagittarius.
Lets say you are an Aries sun & you look at the degree that your sun is in. Your degree may be at 15 degrees, that’d make you an Aries-Leo. Or maybe your sun is at 28 degrees, you’d be an Aries-Sagittarius.
(6/11): With Decans it is so important to know each signs planet ruler because with Decans, here comes a co-ruler. For example:
If your Aries sun is at 16 degrees, your decan tells us that you are an Aries-Leo. Leo is ruled by the sun. Now, you have a co-ruler which is the sun—
If your Aries sun is at 16 degrees, your decan tells us that you are an Aries-Leo. Leo is ruled by the sun. Now, you have a co-ruler which is the sun—
(7/11): So with the sun being your co-owner, you don’t have JUST Mars energy, but you now have some sun energy, too.
(8/11): Decans can be applied to any placement, any planet whether it’s the sun, the moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, etc.
(9/11): Let’s try with another planet other than the sun:
If you have your Mercury in Cancer at 18 degrees, not only do you have a Cancer-Scorpio Mercury, but there are TWO co-owners: Scorpio is ruled by Pluto and Cancer is ruled by the Moon.
If you have your Mercury in Cancer at 18 degrees, not only do you have a Cancer-Scorpio Mercury, but there are TWO co-owners: Scorpio is ruled by Pluto and Cancer is ruled by the Moon.
(10/11): So you have the influence of 2 other planets also working with your Mercury.
(11/11): Decans gives us so much more insight about a placements in a birth chart and helps us to understand so much more. I really hope you guys enjoyed my first ever astrology thread and please, leave any questions or comments if you have any.
