Kind of weird how much discourse on here equates evangelism with inviting people to church.
I’ve had a lot of conversations with Uber drivers and strangers in coffee shops and acquaintances from interest groups where I got to talk about Jesus because that’s who I am and I never hide it. I get to hear their experience, share mine, and answer theological questions.
Inviting them to church would have been inappropriate because that wasn’t what they were asking or what they were ready for. The point was offering them Jesus where they were in that moment for however long we talked.
I’ve also invited people to church who were curious about it, especially people I had an ongoing relationship with. It’s not like there’s not a place for that, but the two aren’t identical.
