As a thank you for a 100 followers, I’ve decided to do my first thread, I’ve chose the album Ye because I think it’s a great Kanye album and haven’t seen much threads about it so here we go...
1)ITAKY — this song really resonates with Ye’s struggle with his bipolar and his 2 minute monologue really reinforces that, this is an obvious shout to his mental health and how he struggles with loving him self. However soon fades in to a beat drop and we see Kanye start rapping
again which really does set the tone for the album, it may not be his strongest intro but personally I really like it!
2) Yikes— this is one my favourite Ye songs, and yet again we see that his problems with mental health and drugs takes the centre stage. His relentless rapping over the crazy production makes for a really enjoyable listen.
3) All mine— although this is one of my least favourite songs on Ye, you can see Kanye taking subtle shots at his family members shows he really has no filter, and it shows. Production was simple but is enjoyable and makes a decent song.
4) Wouldn’t leave — this is one of Kanye most honest songs as he raps over a gentle instrumental about some of his wreck-less moments and how he feels misunderstood. With the main theme of this song being him reflecting on Kim’s loyalty to him and how he loves her. This is a 1/2
really strong song and shows his vulnerable side. 2/2
5) No mistakes— another highlight of the record for me. This song beautifully transitions from the soulful Charlie Wilson’s vocals to a more up tempo beat, where Kanye’s flow becomes more aggressive and some of his rhymes target drake. This song is a feel good upbeat moment!
6) Ghost town— this is not only my favourite song on the album but also one of my favourite Kanye songs. The song is heavily rock influenced and it’s perfect, we see Ye and Cudi reflect on their personal struggles and how they have overcome them, this foreshadows the KSG 1/2
Project and shows how in sync Ye and Cudi are, and the feature from 070 Shake just tops it as she takes the stage with the ending of the song making you feel free and complete. 2/2
7) Violent crimes— this is one of kanyes best outros and once again one of his most honest, open and sentimental songs. The main theme of this song being his daughter changing his perspective of women and how he treats them. 1/2
This song really shows how parenthood has changed him for the better. 2/2
