The only people you should ever call the police to do a welfare check on are white, abled, economically-secure people. Even then they should be a last resort.

Logic check: to be clear, they need to be all of the above. If any one of those qualifiers does not apply—if they are non-white, if they are disabled, or if they are economically insecure—then calling the police can easily end up in an arrest or death.

Our police system is so broken that you have to do the calculus of how much pain is their involvement likely to cause compared to if they do not get involved.
