I think this episode review hits on why I question some of the decisions made for the anime adaptation, albeit unintentionally. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/otherside-picnic/episode-6/.169300
See, normally this would've been episode 3, followed by Time, Space, and a Middle-Aged Man and in that, Sorawo is seeing a doppleganger of herself, showing her all her worst traits. In the books, it's even more clear that Sorawo... doesn't really care about other people.
Except Toriko, of course. But... that's not really a good thing. She's dismissive of Kozakura's experiences and really doesn't think twice after the Kisaragi Station events. She's not a hero, even if sometimes the things she does end up saving people.
In Time, Space, and a Middle-Aged Man, Kozakura straight up tells Sorawo, after she pushes Kozakura along in her search for Toriko, "I thought you were a gloomy otaku but it turns out you're a psychopath with dependency issues."
The anime softens her a lot, because we don't hear what she's thinking. But that leads to people expecting her to act in ways that she really doesn't.
Otherside Picnic is in a lot of ways about these two characters who share a common experience in past trauma, who escape into a fantasy world with each other instead of dealing with their issues. And I do wish the anime kept that characterization in.
