every time i have to interact with a non profit i'm reminded that there isn't an ethical way to do social justice as a job. you get invested in the current conditions in order to continue operating. your relationship to the state becomes stronger than yours with the people.
Anyway. Very exhausted of people throwing their money at these huge reproductive rights (not justice no matter what their messaging is now) organizations and then those organizations not getting shit done because they're in bed with the State and don't push. It's disgusting.
These orgs only show up when there's an abortion ban coming out the South or an anti-Roe SCOTUS nominee. Weren't even talking about repealing Hyde until fairly recently. And god knows these orgs are going to discourage organizers and smaller orgs from pushing Biden on it.
And as far as reproductive rights go, I don't think I'm wrong to say that orgs up North are just far less radical than those in the South anyway. The way these nonprofits are just counting dollars because it will never be politically expedient for Cuomo for eg. to threaten Roe.
There is so much more to be done than safeguarding Roe. Not only is Roe the floor and not the ceiling of abortion access, but there are also people who are relying on this movement to achieve contraceptive justice and parent justice. Abortion isn't it.
Just wanna say that ultimately people gotta do what they gotta do. Just don't ignore this contradiction. The repro rights org I was talking about contracts with the state I live in, which is why it won't sign on to a policy initiative that would increase healthcare access. Lol.
They would strain their relationship with the state by demanding an increase in access to healthcare. This is ultimately at the expense of their clinic staff. The policy includes administrative changes that would eliminate a lot of work for the clinic staff. lol. they don't care!
They want organizers to believe that this policy would be far more burdensome than the access barriers it seeks to address and to stop pushing for it.

They want organizers to give up on changing policy so that their contract with the state isn't threatened.
