2010: Distant Relatives-Nas & Jr Gong
Jamaican reggae meets American hip hop and creates of the most heartfelt messages about diaspora while also letting it bring a strong message to everyone everywhere. The entertainment I feel in this album transcends me with every listen.

2011: Undun-The Roots
One of the greatest conceptual albums I have heard! This tribute to a man who dies and is forgotten. No glory, glamorous life, no fun. Just an ordinary black sheep. It’s a journey from start to end from the orchestral conclusion to Black Thoughts metaphors.

2012: good kid, m.A.A.d city
Kendrick expresses himself in many different ways, the way he uses his voice to catch the listeners attention as he tells a story captivates you. Then there are these real life events that are jam packed with emotions, action, and climaxes.

2013: Watching Movies with the Sound Off-Mac Miller
Mac’s evolution as an artist is undeniably one of the best of all time. This album takes you one a whirlwind of emotions and is one of my favorite Mac projects. His rhymes and clearer sense of identity proves how perfect it is.

2014: Piñata-Freddie Gibbs
From the production to the lyrically ability this album has it all. Combining rash honesty to electrifying lyricism. Madlib can’t go unnoticed with his talent and 10+ years of experience made for some of the best production I’ve heard.

2015: B4.Da.$$-Joey Bada$$
Lyrically talented, you can hear how he has the right mindset and how pensive he is about his career as we listen through this album. Joey gives us some promising contemporary beats, while also slowing down and ambling through golden-era hip-hop.

2016: Blonde-Frank Ocean
From the production to the heartfelt lyrics to the immense replay value Blonde gives you this feeling of comfort, but also a sense of remoteness. This albums truly dives deep into Frank’s artistry while bringing up hints to real life problems.

2017: Flower Boy-Tyler the Creator
This album addresses a new Tyler, not the vulgar type we all know, but more of gentle tunes and a calming sense of mystery. His cover matches the way you will feel through this album. Giving the listener a full feel of who he is.

2018: Care for Me-Saba
The most heartbreaking, intense, intimate, and beautiful lyrical performances I’ve ever heard. You can hear his pain in his voice through the the tracks, talking about his struggles with depression and the loss of someone close by vividly storytelling.

2019: Titanic Rising-Weyes Blood
Perfect is an understatement. I am literally transported to a place where I can be free, and not have any worries while still being connected with her storytelling and being immersed into work. A masterpiece from front to back.
