Serious question: if their primary objective is to win seats from the NDP, what is the point of the Green Party of Canada?

How does concentrating on attacking the other progressive party in Parliament get us any closer to their stated goals?

Can anyone explain this to me? https://twitter.com/tompark1n/status/1359143152578355202
I’m not asking them to let the NDP totally off the hook.

We’re both opposition parties and we have an adversarial system.

I get that.

But concentrating your fire on Singh?

What does that do other than increase the likelihood of another regressive Liberal majority?
I’m very skeptical that this will even work.

She’s in for a rude awakening it Paul thinks she can define herself as a leader by targeting Singh.

My bet is this alienates more Green-NDP swing voters than it attracts, especially if Singh beefs up his climate offer in response.
I also don’t get this notion that Paul and her strategists have that there’s this reservoir of disaffected NDP supporters who are going to defect to her Green Party.

Maybe that would be true if she were an eco-socialist, but ideologically she’s no different than Elizabeth May.
The idea that “turning the NDP’s 24 seats from orange to green” is even possible betrays a laughable naïveté.

The Greens are never going to win in Hamilton Mountain or London Fanshawe.

The two parties have very different political coalitions.

This is basic stuff.
I'm obviously coming at this from an NDP perspective, but I would have grave reservations about this strategy if I were a Green Party member.

It makes no sense to concentrate on running hard against the NDP when you have real opportunities in Liberal-held seats in NB, PEI & ON.
Honestly, a targeted unity pitch directed at NDP voters (ie. lend me your vote in this Liberal-held riding so we can work on progressive priorities together) is way more likely to net Paul a seat in either downtown Toronto or Guelph than running hard against Singh.
