TEN ALBUMS, TEN ARTISTS, ONE DECADE: THE 2010s
The challenge is to pick the best hip hop album from every year in the 2010s, but the catch is, no artist can feature more than once!

Here’s the thread:
2010: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West

Kanye’s lyricism is at its speak. Contains so many one of the best features of all time. What makes this album overall a legendary masterpiece is how well its maximalist ideas of fame, sex, money, attention, and...
sinning are perfectly arranged to create an extremely cohesive theme album.
Fav track: runaway
2011: Undun by The Roots

This is just another one of their masterfullu crafted pieces which feels like a music version of a VR headset. Album feels cinematic like with its interwined tracks and connected narrating.
Fav track: one time
2012: good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar

GKMC is personally my favourite modern rap albm ever and for many reasons. Perfectly narrates a day in the life of Kendrick’s troubled childhood...
Each track addresses a completely different event in Kendrick’s life and shows the lesson it taught him.
Fav track: Sing About Me, I’m Dying Of Thirst
2013: Nothing Was The Same by Drake

This is without a doubt my favorite Drake Album and near perfect to me. The highs on this album are so high, the features all add so much and every song are just great.
Fav track: Too Much
2014: Piñata by Freddie Gibbs & Madlib

The chopped up jazzy production makes for possibly Madlib’s best produced record ever. Freddie Gibbs elevates to a top tier MC as a prodigy of Madlib. The pairing of Madlib and...
Freddie produce the gangsta mentality into a more finely vivid picture that takes its own form away from the ugly negatives it actually brings about in real life.
Fav track: Uno
2015: Rodeo by Travis Scott

One of the most impactful modern hip hop. The consistency in his confidence and how he keeps the destructive momentum where the track list score bangers after bangers is what exactly justifies the album’s theme.
Fav track: Maria I’m Drunk
2016: 4 Yours Eyez Only by J Cole

Very compact in terms of track count & storytelling coverage to express an deserved tribute to a childhood friend.
Fav track: Immortal
2017: Flower Boy Album by Tyler The Creator

Tyler is a weirdo but a special one. Tyler overall brought his strongest body of work to date with a unique kind of introspection which covers all the necessary feelings you would need to address before moving forward in real life...
Brilliant album.
Fav track: see you again
2018: Care For Me by Saba

Short, simple, & sweet both in structure & theme. The album’s sheer consistency of its convincing emotional vents & storytelling makes up a very highly organic experience that you can partially or fully identify with.
Fav track: Prom/King
2019: All My Heroes Are Cornballs by Jpegmafia

The album’s beauty stems from its tendency to tackle classic internet tropes in often comical or relatable fashion with pretty much great accuracy of real life...
This album showed Peggy’s production palette let itself go brilliantly.
Fav track: Jesus Forgive Me I Am A Thot
