I watched the first 2 hours of arguments inside the Senate chamber. The mood was very heavy & somber. Senators were slack-jawed during the opening video montage. And they were deeply moved by Raskin's closing speech. A number came to thank him, mostly Democrats but Cotton as well
During the video, Gillibrand held her right hand on her forehead, elbow on desk, & seemed to sink lower & lower. A young staffer seemed to be breathing heavily. Capito wiped something from her eyes. Only Sen who I could see who didn't watch much of it was Rubio, who was reading
Raskin & other House managers are using typed notes from a three-ring binder. Castor has a legal yellow pad.

Only spectator in gallery is Rep. Al Green
One funny detail. Bernie Sanders got his tablet confiscated by a staffer. "Really?" he said when the staffer came over to tell him electronics are not allowed during the trial
The best description of how senators responded to Castor's presentation is that a number of them looked as if they were peering into a dark closet: furrowed brows, squinted eyes.

McConnell made a remark at one point to his aide, who laughed.
Also, another senator has been reprimanded for breaking the rules of the impeachment rules. Booker was told by a Senate staffer that he could not stand behind his seat but had to sit.
It is ok for senators to sit in the spectator gallery, and Hawley has been there for an hour. He's the only senator not on the floor of the chamber.

I've also only seen two senators not wearing masks: Rand Paul and Cynthia Lummis.
Sasse didn't respond too visibly to Castor's remarks about him. He looked at him quite intently as he spoke, and looked like he was sort of amused by the comments
Schoen has been a marked contrast to Castor, obviously. He is working off typed notes, unlike Castor's hand-written notes. Schoen's hands shook as he began speaking.
