NEW from me: 2021 could see a sizable uptick in professionals relocating to new cities or towns around the globe, according to the results of a new @CityMonitorAI survey: https://citymonitor.ai/community/2021-could-be-a-boom-year-for-moving
A few details from our initial findings:
1) A newfound ability to work remotely is a key driver of interest in moving this year. 66.1% of respondents said the ability to work remotely was a factor in their decision to relocate.
1) A newfound ability to work remotely is a key driver of interest in moving this year. 66.1% of respondents said the ability to work remotely was a factor in their decision to relocate.
2) We found *no major difference* in levels of interest in relocating between current urban residents and current suburban residents. Rural respondents were less likely to be considering a move.
3) Among remote workers, an interest in upgrading their living space was the most common reason cited for considering a move to a new location. Which makes sense! I, too, am dreaming of an additional bedroom so I can have my own home office.
4) There's still *plenty* of interest in living in urban areas. Roughly a quarter of respondents currently in suburban or rural areas said they want to move to a city. 41% of those currently in urban areas are simply looking for a new city.
5) Ultimately, the results of our survey suggest not a great reckoning for cities, but the potential for a great reshuffling among newly remote workers. People everywhere are reconsidering where they want to be, because suddenly, they can.
