1. A wee tribute thread to the truly great Mary Wilson with some less well known songs by The Supremes.
Enjoy.
Kicking off is their cover version of Sly Stone’s Everyday People.

2. Shine on Me was the B side for the hit Stoned Love. Jean Terrel’s vocals are just stunning.
3. You Move Me had that classic Supremes Motown sound. Could easily have been a hit back in 1970. It was tucked away on their first album without Diana Ross, Right On.
4. How Long Has That Evening Train Been Gone. A track which was never released at the time in 1970. The Supremes had a habit of recording so many songs which never saw the outside of the recording studio.
5. I’m Livin’ In Shame was the follow up social issue theme to the 1968 hit Love Child.
6. Forever Came Today was a 1968 single which was a relatively minor hit compared to their previous singles in the UK and US. An absolute classic from Holland Dozier and Holland.
7. Nothing But Heartaches was a single from 1965. It followed 5 consecutive US number 1’s. It only reached number 11 so Berry Gordy issued a memo to all Motown staff saying only number one records by The Supremes should be released. No pressure.
8. No Matter What Sign You Are was another relatively minor hit issued in 1969. Berry Gordy wrote it so he obviously never got his own memo.
9. Here Comes The Sunrise was released on the album Touch in 1971. It was the third Supremes album produced by Frank Wilson after Berry Gordy focussed his attention on Diana Ross’ solo career. Again Jean Terrell’s vocals are sublime.
10. Sing A Simple Song was on the Supremes and Temptations album Together. Another brilliant Sly Stone song with the Motown house band getting funky.
11. So just 10 songs by The Supremes with Mary Wilson on every one of them.
And my own all time favourite tune of theirs.
Stoned Love.
