Some of the tweets about the Gorilla glue situation are frustrating, because some people are genuinely upset that the woman is gaining social media followers (from an L she took btw) and raised $10k to cover medical costs of that L (in a country where health costs are exorbitant)
And it’s frustrating since people seem upset that she’s “profiting off of a viral moment,” that they all wished they had— but didn’t.

So it’s weird to see these convos play out since our society already views everything, including viral moments, as “competition.”
So those angry seem more upset to have been “out-competed” by someone they’ve deemed “dumb,” “stupid,” and/or “irresponsible”; ignoring the fact that someone’s life has changed in a way that is painful and damaging.
I’m actually happy that her story was able to gain attention— otherwise what could have happened to her?

She’s a black woman, I’ve also seen it said that she doesn’t have health insurance, and so... those upset.. were the alternative that she goes without help / die?? 🤔
Social media has also warped people’s perceptions of some things— since I’ve also seen people say that someone damaged their head for “clout” 😐 are y’all actually reading/hearing how you sound when you say this?

The competition mentality is really dumb 🥴
