Loved this conversation with @wolftivy and @miltonwrites great discussion of how we have to take on our responsibility as caretakers of the earth. https://twitter.com/palladiummag/status/1355610465913729026
I had one *strong* point of disagreement however. As I understood the argument:
Earlier societies were not conscious of their role in terraforming earth, as a result their local interactions led to large scale negative outcomes. Now we must take a global view.

My read is the opposite. Earlier societies seemed deeply in touch with their impacts on the world around them. Think shamanism to Islam.
They cared deeply about terraforming the earth but they always started with what was right in front of their eyes.

Instead it seems like reframing the world in terms of global impact (cutting down this huge forest doesn't reduce the amount of forest overall, burning this coal here can't hurt in the grand scheme of things) that caused the current terraforming issues.
Now that this global context has been included we can't get rid of it. We've become a global species. We have to consider it as well as part of our local decisions.
However, bringing the response back to the local level has to be the critical thing.

In the end our system is complex enough at this point that decisions at the local level will overwhelm global level decisions just due to the coupled nature of the network we're in.
Governance has a huge (maybe determining) part to play: zoning, subsidies, investment, value system development etc. (all the awesome things @palladiummag is investigating)
However, the change has to happen locally global design of the earths ecosystem seems bound to fail).
