I have been challenged by @HipHopChatter_ to make a thread on my top ten rap albums from the 2010s.

One album per year and one album per artist.

Check out my picks down below.⬇️⬇️⬇️
2010 - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West

This album might be the generic answer but it’s for good reason. The production on every song is phenomenal. Every artist on the album, including Kanye, definitely brought their A-game because not one feature dragged a song.
2010 - (Continued)

A revolutionary album like this one can never be forgotten.

Rating: 10/10
Favorite tracks So Appalled, All of the Lights, Hell of a Life
2011 - XXX by Danny Brown

Danny Brown had an amazing debut with his album XXX. This album can be enjoyed on a surface level with its amazing instrumentals, but it can also be felt on a deeper level once you dive into Danny’s lyrics.
2011 - (Continued)

Danny Brown’s vocals are always a standout on any song or album he’s on and you can’t seem to get enough of him on this project. Overall it’s an amazing listen.

Rating: 9.5/10
Favorite tracks: XXX, DNA, 30
2012 - good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar

I’m not sure what I can say about GKMC that hasn’t already been said before. The production on this album is amazing and the proof lies in tracks like SAMIDOT or The Recipe.
2012 - (Continued)

Kendrick’s storytelling is the best I’ve ever heard. He creates a picture for me that’s easy to understand and it connects with me on so many levels.

Rating: 10/10
Favorite tracks: Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe, Backseat Freestyle, Swimming Pools
2013 - Owl Pharaoh by Travi$ Scott

Owl Pharaoh is a mixtape but I still wanted to include it in this thread. Travis is very experimental on this tape and it’s and far from what you would hear from him today.
2013 - (Continued)

I love it for it’s different types of sounds that you don’t usually hear in trap, especially at the time it dropped. Overall, I find every listen to this even more enjoyable than the last.

Rating: 9.5/10
Favorite tracks: Hell of a Night, MIA, Quintana
2014 - PiĂąata by Freddie Gibbs & Madlib

When you put Freddie Gibbs and Madlib together on an album, the only thing you can expect is greatness. Gibbs’s amazing vocals and flow paired with Madlib’s eccentric and luxurious beats go hand in hand like puzzles pieces.
2014 - (Continued)

The features on the album are amazing too. The posse cut at the end was great. The dark subject matter the Freddie conveys on this project is also very deep.

Rating: 9/10
Favorite tracks: Thuggin’, Uno, High
2015 - AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP by A$AP Rocky

I talk about this album in this thread here.

Rating: 10/10
Favorite tracks: Canal St., Fine Whine, Pharsyde https://twitter.com/wafidoeshiphop/status/1349519599730094082
2016 - JEFFERY by Young Thug

I talk about this record in this thread here.

Rating: 10/10
Favorite tracks: Wyclef Jean, Future Swag, RiRi https://twitter.com/wafidoeshiphop/status/1349519682118807553
2017 - 4:44 by Jay-Z

4:44 is a new found gem of mine. I’m not sure what took me so long to listen to it because it’s amazing. Jay-Z’s reflections and revelations are so different from anything I’ve heard on an album. The instrumentals are out of this world on the project too.
2017 - (Continued)

Hov raps very nicely and I like that because it adds to the feel of the music. What makes this album special is that you can hear the evolution that Jay has undergone throughout his career.

Rating: 9.6/10
Favorite tracks: The Story of O.J., Marcy Me
2018 - DAYTONA by Pusha T

Pusha T delivers one of the best narratives I’ve ever heard on a coke rap album. His delivery and lyrics work so well together that it makes every song an invigorating listen.
2018 - (Continued)

Kanye Wests’s production on this project is outstanding and the best I’ve ever heard from him. Push packs so much life into 20 minutes that I never feel like the album would’ve benefited from a longer runtime.

Rating: 10/10
Favorite track: Hard Piano
2019 - Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial by Roddy Ricch

Roddy Ricch’s debut album onto the trap scene is refreshing and quite exciting. Roddy Ricch has a lot of range in his vocals. He can sing very well but can also rap nicely and ride an instrumental like it’s nothing.
2019 - (Continued)

The instrumentals are a lot jazzier than your normal trap beats. I love this album because of its freshness. Roddy’s style can never get old for and I can’t wait to see what he has for us in this decade.

Rating: 9/10
Favorite tracks: Intro, War Baby
