It’s crazy how most of mental life’s problems today is just the dramatically felt need to reinvent private life in an age where private life is the raw material for exploitative capital extraction. That’s another reason psychoanalysis is coming back.
And it’s a paradox, ofc, because the first patients of psychoanalysis went into analysis to get a, relatively speaking, ‘public hearing’. Now people go into analysis to have a ‘private hearing’.

“Let me say things I could never say elsewhere. Let me have a private life here."
The problem is that traditional forms of privacy are historically and effectively modeled on lives of the capitalist bourgeoisie. What are we to do in such as situation? What kind of privacy are we even able to reinvent that doesn't recapitulate to those older forms?
I do not have answers to these questions. I'm simply a humble idiot.
