Jose Mourinho s management philosphy is simple. Demand 110% from each player. Build a siege mentality. Every player has to take every 50-50 tackle lost and every goal conceded personally and pull in the same direction all season. Brutal and mental torture, but works
He had players who wud translate his warrior mentality onto the pitch at every club he went to. Porto, Carvalho, Deco and McCarthy. Chelsea had JT, Maka, Essien, Cole, Cech, Ballack, Lampard and others. Inter had Zanetti, Materazzi, Cambiasso, Milito, Sneijder among others
Real had Ramos, Casillas, Pepe, Alonso, Ozil, Di Maria and Ronaldo. Players who were technically brilliant but could also be absolute cunts on the pitch if the need arose. Even his second innings at Chelsea had a resurgent John Terry setting the tone on and off the pitch.
Since JT s decline in 2015/16, the only trophies Mourinho has won were spearheaded by Ibrahimovic. Another Mourinho favorite. Coincidence?
His reluctance to change his man management techniques since 2015/16 have seen him fall out with multiple players and losing the dressingroom
And an almost stubborn insistence on playing negative and attritional football alienated him from the fanbase at both United and now Spurs.
People who remember his Porto and Chelsea teams, especially 2004-06 chelsea remember the modern attacking football they played.
At Real he built one of the best counter attacking units of all time who blew away teams before them. 2014/15 Chelsea had Fabregas pulling the strings and Hazard Oscar and Willian combining to good effect. And with the squad he has at Spurs, Jose should be more positive
In Kane, Son, Ndombele, Sissoko and co, he has the players to play a more expansive brand of football and still win games. The reliance on Kane and son was always going to fizzle out and now it has. Maybe the current gen of players can't cope with Jose abrasive style
Alex Ferguson won league titles in 3 decades coz he knew how important it was to adapt. Jose has half a season left to salvage his managerial career. If he refuses to change and sticks to his guns, this might be his last big job in football. And as someone who grew up loving him,
I truly believe football is richer with him in it.
