When they talked about Romans being in Germanic lands, they used verbs like “to civilize”: “The Romans wanted to civilize the barbarians”.

Oh, dear historian, you mean as in invade Germanic lands, rape the women, enslave the children, kill the men, and then exploit those who survived up to their last “dime”, taking everything away from them, from crops and grains to most of their livestock?
Curiously, if the “barbarians” fought back against their INVADERS, historians interviewed in the documentary would use terms such as “conniving”, “tricking”, “butchering”, “massacring”, “savagery”, etc., in order to describe them.

I wonder how this logic works in a historian's mind.
