feature-parity with twitter is a weak goal. Koo will never be as good as twitter at being them.
Think "from first principles" what kind of social media you want for the next 5/10/20 years for India.

a better example is (pre-facebook) WhatsApp. From the choice of technology, to using phone# as UIDs, to CHARGING! for app usage.. lot of things that are "bad" according to SV wannabes obviously worked well to grow to billions of users with handful of engrs while being profitable.

Most (None?) of the FAANG services used by @kooindia are a must, so the choice is not yet fatal. Get rid of all the tracking crap by GOOG/FB. move the email service provider to a non-FAANG provider and you are already 90% to "self sufficiency"
This is another reminder that while building the next twitter is exciting, India still needs solid Saas/PaaS/IaaS offerings that are not tied to the foreign surveillance state
