Because when one marginalized community targets another marginalized community in hate crimes, only white supremacy wins.
White supremacy makes the oppressed think we all need to fight for a larger slice of the pie we’re given. When in reality, we’re at the kids table and white supremacy has an abundance of pies sitting separately while at the grown ups table.
White supremacy gives us one measly kids pie to fight it over with to distract from their table of wealth and access. While simultaneously whispering to us, that we as Asian Americans are the “model minority” and so much better than the other ‘kids’ at the table.
White supremacy is winning right now because the government’s response to this uptick of Asian hate crime is more “massive policing."
We all know that massive policing is anti-Black and leads to violence against Black bodies. This is not the answer.
When we say dismantle systemic racism, we don’t mean just black vs. white. We also mean oppressed vs. oppressed. Dismantle racism btwn the Black and Asian community, btwn the Black and Latinx community, btwn the white and disabled community— across all marginalized groups.
This week is the celebration of the #LunarNewYear
/ #ChineseNewYear
. The biggest holiday celebration for our culture. Yet, we are vulnerable and hurting from lost businesses and xenophobia this year— attacks will be on the rise.

Where are our allies?? We need allies and continued amplification and rewriting history. A new narrative between Black and Asian Americans— lest we not forget, we are all victims of the oppressor. White media, speak up. White silence, speak up.
If @nielsen reports Asian Americans spend the most and @Comscore reports we have the highest viewership, how can you say this news doesn’t matter? Don’t you dare try to tap into our spending power yet not share our pain.
“Sometime I wonder if the Asian American experience is what it’s like when you’re thinking about everyone else, but nobody else is thinking about you.” -Steven Yeun
